Commissioning
Commissioning a piece of handmade fine furniture can be an enjoyable and rewarding experience culminating in the production of a very personal piece of furniture.
The first step in commissioning a piece of handmade furniture is usually a call to myself to discuss your requirements. You should have a reasonable idea of the size, function and budget for the piece you require.
A piece of furniture made to your particular requirements will inevitably be more expensive than one mass produced in a factory. The cost of a piece will vary depending on how complex the design is, how long it takes to make and what finish is required, but with a reasonable budget a design can be tailored to fit.
The next step is usually an informal visit by myself to the place which the piece of furniture will occupy. This meeting gives us the chance to discuss design of the proposed piece, timescale and look at samples of various timbers and finishes.
Following this visit I will produce an initial design, quotation and delivery date. This design can be an illustration, computer rendering or sometimes a scale model can be made, your input here is very welcome - as the piece of furniture should be exactly as you want it.

When the final design is agreed upon a deposit of 40 % is required with the balance payable on completion. With larger projects i.e. a room scheme I may ask for staged payments.
